I'm sorry that I'm just seeing this email now. It was sent to my personal email and I was in meetings all day on Friday. If you need help in the future, the quickest way to get it is to email us at and the librarian on duty can help you.

Now to your question. What Mr. Hanson is wanting you to do with the research part of your paper is to find out what others have said about the institution of education and how it serves to unite and/or disunite our society. Have you looked at the Introduction to Sociology research guide I created for your class? Once there, click on the Your Topic tab where you'll see search terms to use on the right, sources for background reading on the left which will give you good topic overviews, and sample research questions in the middle that Mr. Hanson said you could even use. After you've done some background reading and have a good broad understanding of your topic, you'll then spend the rest of your research time finding answers to the research questions.

You'll proceed through this research guide using resources linked on the Find Books and Find Articles tabs. You'll use resources and the search terms listed in this guide to find reliable information to answer your research questions.

Please let me know if this information is confusing or doesn't work out for you and we'll try another approach.
