Learning the process of writing an essay is part of the curriculum in English 49, 50, and 101, so enrolling in the appropriate courses is a step in the right direction. In addition to assistance from your instructor(s), here are some other resources available to MJC students:

Search the WorldCat @MJC library catalog for books on this topic. Using "academic writing" as a keyword, I found several helpful-looking titles, including How to Write Essays: a step by step guide for all levels, which is available as an eBook you can read from any Internet-linked computer.

Another excellent source is the Purdue OWL (Online Writing Lab) page on Essay Writing. This web site contains helpful handouts on all stages of the writing process. 

You can also take advantage of the help available to MJC students at the Writing Center. Make an appointment to meet one-on-one with a tutor on East Campus by calling 575-6346 and on West Campus by calling 575-6676.
