FAQ

The Question

How do I know if an author is credible?

Our Answer

This is a great question!

The best way is to do a little research about the author or authors.

  • What else have they written?
  • In what fields is their area of expertise?
  • What do other scholars or experts say about them?

A great skill to develop is lateral reading. It's especially helpful when you're working with resources on the web. Basically, in lateral reading, you look beyond your source to find out what others are saying about it. This skill also applies to finding information about an author.

I've linked to a really good video called, Investigate the Source, that will show you how easy lateral reading is.
