How did library links change over winter break?

Over winter break of 2023, we made a change to the way we provide off-campus access to library resources. With the help of District IT, most of these changes took place in the background, but you will need to take action if you have certain types of library links in Canvas, your syllabus, or other course or promotional materials.

Which links do I need to change?

You only need to change links that include http://libdbmjc.yosemite.edu/.

For example, a link to a EBSCOhost article http://libdbmjc.yosemite.edu/login?url=https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=mdc&AN=EPTOC156154951&site=ehost-live&scope=site

How should I update the link?

Swap out the existing prefix for the new prefix:  https://login.mjc.idm.oclc.org/

https://login.mjc.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=mdc&AN=EPTOC156154951&site=ehost-live&scope=site

You can replace the old EZ Proxy prefix with the new prefix, and most links should continue to work as they did before.  However, some links embed portions of the proxy information in the link, so if replacing the prefix does not fix the issue, please reach out to leamym@yosemite.edu for help.

About embedded videos

if you have used Canvas's built in embedding function to embed a Films on Demand video in your Canvas class, this will continue to work without changes.

If you have embedded a Kanopy video, this should also will continue to work, since Kanopy embed code does not use the proxy prefix. However, this has changed over time, so you may have an older link that will need to be updated.  So check them all!

If you have copied embed code from Films on Demand or another library-provided streaming video resource, this will likely include http://libdbmjc.yosemite.edu/ . To ensure you get working embed code, please visit the video page again in January and copy the code at that time.
