Note: open Internet resources (including Wikipedia) are okay for this assignment. All sources need to be properly cited.

One approach to this assignment is to Google some of the characteristics of the bacteria to identify several possible candidates. Then use library databases (especially the health databases and Gale Virtual Reference Library) to look up specific organisms and confirm their characteristics.

Other useful resources include:

  • Bergey's Manual of Determinative Bacteriology (print - West Campus reference, QR81 .A5 1994) groups bacteria by defining characteristics.
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website has information on bacteria and the diseases they can cause in humans.
