How do I find the DOI for an article I'm using?

Our Answer

A DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is a unique alphanumeric string that identifies content and provides a persistent link to its location on the internet. Publishers of the content assign the DOI to it.

DOIs can be found in database records, on individual articles or other sources, and the reference lists of published works. However, there's not always a DOI for every digital object. When you don't see the DOI on your digital object, you can use the DOI search tool, Crossref Metadata Search, linked to below to try to find a DOI.
