A source within a secondary source is acceptable and are often referred to as "indirect sources".  Whenever possible cite from the original source.  If what you quote or paraphrase is itself a quotation, use the abbreviation qtd. in (quoted in) before the indirect source within the parenthetical reference.  See MLA Handbook, 7th Ed. section 6.4.7 for example.
